There is enough talent on the roster, enough experience across the depth chart and enough opportunity on the schedule for the Tigers to believe this can finally be the season that changes the direction of the program.
It will not be perfect.
There will be heartbreak. There will be Saturdays when Auburn walks away believing one possession separated it from something much bigger. And ultimately, three narrow losses could be enough to keep the Tigers just outside the College Football Playoff.
But if this prediction plays out, Auburn will also accomplish something far more important.
It will matter again.
The Tigers finish the regular season 9-3, defeat Alabama in an unforgettable Iron Bowl and close the year by beating Penn State in the Citrus Bowl.

The Tigers take control in the second half and move to 4-0.
At this point, Auburn is no longer simply an interesting SEC team.
The Tigers are becoming part of the national conversation.

Every promising season eventually runs into adversity.
For Auburn, it arrives against Tennessee.
This has the feel of a heavyweight SEC game from the opening kick. Neither team creates much separation, and every possession becomes increasingly important as the fourth quarter approaches.
Auburn has opportunities to win it.
But one missed opportunity, one stalled drive or one late Tennessee possession becomes the difference.
The Tigers suffer their first loss of the year by three points.
It hurts.
But it does not derail the season.

Auburn's defense keeps the Tigers alive throughout the afternoon. Georgia struggles to create separation, and Auburn enters the fourth quarter with a legitimate chance to win.
In the end, Georgia survives.
Barely.
Auburn loses 20-17, dropping consecutive games, but the feeling surrounding the Tigers is different than it has been following many losses in recent seasons.
Auburn did not look overwhelmed.
It looked like it belonged.

LSU — Auburn wins 35-24
This becomes the response that defines Auburn's season.
After consecutive losses to Tennessee and Georgia, the Tigers could allow the season to begin slipping away.
Instead, they deliver their biggest victory yet.
Auburn attacks LSU aggressively from the opening quarter and refuses to play cautiously. The Tigers generate explosive plays, finish drives with touchdowns and put pressure on LSU to respond.
This time, Auburn closes the game.

Then Auburn makes the plays it has struggled to make for years.
A third-down conversion.
A critical defensive stop.
And finally, the clock reaches zero.

The Tigers have beaten their biggest rival.
The season that began with cautious optimism suddenly feels like the beginning of something much larger.

That is how close Auburn comes to an entirely different conversation.
Flip two possessions during the regular season and perhaps the Tigers are playing postseason football with championship implications.
Instead, 2026 becomes the season Auburn finally proves it has climbed out of the hole.
The Tigers enter September hoping to become relevant again.
They leave December believing they can compete with anybody.
And after years of waiting for Auburn football to truly feel like Auburn football again, a 10-win season capped by an Iron Bowl victory would send one unmistakable message to the rest of the SEC:
