One of BYU’s biggest questions heading into the 2026 season is who will emerge in a wide receiver room that lost several key contributors from a year ago.
The Cougars don't have an obvious replacement for Chase Roberts, but they do have plenty of intriguing options. Here are the players most likely to step up.
1. Jojo Phillips
Phillips is the safest bet to become BYU's new No. 1 receiver.
The 6-foot-5 veteran has flashed big-play ability during his time at BYU, and coaches have praised his development throughout the offseason. With his size and experience, Phillips should have every opportunity to become Bear Bachmeier's favorite target.
If BYU needs someone to make a big play downfield, Phillips is the guy I'm looking at first.
2. Kyler Kasper
Kasper might have the highest ceiling in the room.
The 6-foot-6 Oregon transfer was a highly regarded recruit coming out of high school and brings a combination of size and athleticism that few defensive backs can match.
His college production hasn't caught up to his talent yet, but that's exactly why BYU brought him in. If he can stay healthy, Kasper has a chance to become one of the Cougars' biggest weapons.
3. Tei Nacua
Nacua is my pick for the breakout candidate.
He hasn't produced much statistically during his first two seasons, but he's entering his third year in the program with a much bigger opportunity. Coaches have highlighted his development, and he's shown flashes of the playmaking ability that made him an intriguing prospect.
With defenses likely focusing on Phillips and Kasper, Nacua could benefit from having more favorable matchups.
4. Legend Glasker
Don't be surprised if a freshman makes a major impact.
Glasker quickly became one of the more intriguing receivers during spring camp and earned opportunities with the first-team offense. He has the athleticism to provide the explosive plays BYU will need.
The biggest question is whether he can adjust quickly enough to college football.
If he does, he could force his way into a major role.
5. Jaron Pula
Pula is another freshman worth watching.
The four-star recruit put up big numbers at Lone Peak and arrives at BYU with plenty of talent. At 6-foot-3, he gives the Cougars another big target on the outside.
He may not start immediately, but don't be surprised if his role grows throughout the season.
The Bottom LineBYU doesn't need one player to completely replace Chase Roberts.
It needs multiple receivers to step up.
My bet is that Phillips becomes the primary target, Kasper provides the biggest matchup problem, and Nacua takes the biggest leap. If Glasker or Pula emerges as a reliable explosive-play threat, BYU could have a much deeper receiving corps than expected.
For an offense led by Bear Bachmeier, that's a pretty exciting possibility.
